ABOUT

The Liu Jo spring/summer 2012 Accessories collection features a style made with hyper feminine details that accurately define every item and make them simply special. The collection is played on a transverse universe of bags and small leathergoods, belts, scarves, foulards and bijoux in line with the apparel collection themes: the range grows season after season and becomes more comprehensive and alluring, also for specialty stores and PoS. The collection is divided into three main themes that revolve around daily and night moods, bringing out every facet to Liu Jo’s style.SAHARA SUNSETThe word Sahara conjures up a number of warm and cosy memories, images and atmospheres, just like the smooth shape of a dune in the middle of a desert. The vision opens on a cocktail party in the desert; under the a scorching African sun the guests sip on their Bellini, an aperitif that, with its typical peach colour, epitomizes the colour shades of the very theme. The protagonist is a sober, sophisticated and well-mannered creature who loves to enjoy beautiful and sophisticated things. The pose is that of Fifties ladies, but their independence and self-awareness are typical to contemporary women. The bags for the theme, soft and curly or simple and well-structured, are made precious with metal corners and sophisticated reflecting details. The shades used are mainly neutral, just like wool white and ivory cream, contrasting matched or, by combination, with intense coral, tile blue, and lipstick. The materials employed range from rock python printed nylon, elk-like soft-handed eco leather with a bottalato finish, glossy satin for the cocktail party or ceremony clutch bags with metal fasteners.Scarves are accessories with great character, made with python-printed silk twill with paisley of cashmere micro or macro fancy patterns; or again in washed and wrinkly silk; the final result stands out for its colours and overtones, looking almost like Rothko’s coloured backdrops. The chains at the neck and wrists feature two contrasting galvanizing treatments, one in light gold and one in earthenware-colour. The belts feature two-colour effects that combine neutral shades to vivid tinges. Figure-hugging soft Nappa leather corsets are tied up at the waistline, together with low-waist belts; coloured calf and python or lizard fancy-printed leather. Just like with bags, in belts, too, the shapes are structured with contrasting ribs.BOHO CHICThe inspiration to the second theme comes from the romantic bohemian world, where the chic silhouette evolves into the most sophisticated fashion current of the Seventies. The icon-woman who interprets Liu Jo’s boho chic world is a “degagée” lady, who, in her spontaneous and natural elegance, loves to match comfortable, soft-shaped style with highly sophisticated details such as lace, laser-perforated and braided details. The bag shapes are simplified, essential and enriched with the finish processes. They look clean-shaped, printed, braided and elaborate with a range of perforations and lace. The colours are warm and natural: mud grey, pink clay, brick red, brown sugar; and cold neutral colours: dove, green bay, lichen. The lurex denim is combined with leather, eco Nappa leather is enriched with braids and made lighter with laser perforation. The open-cut bottalato-finished calf is soft yet firm, with braided finishes, while nabuk calf feature a soapy hand with a mat look. Again, cord, patent leather, canvas and saffiano leather lace-printed braids: on the canvas the print has a macramé effect, while the saffiano version looks distinctly Chantilly. Once again, the collection boasts laser-finished eco-calf with a four-leaf clover lace.On the shoulders, the collection features falsely nonchalant embroidered tulle lace-effect scarves, very cotton lint featuring flower embroideries and fringes, silk and viscose scarves with lace inlays and impalpable wool lint featuring crochet lace prints. The bijoux are made with a cascade of pearls, lace details, tulle and gros on the boho chic jewels. The perforated leather bracelets are matched well with the belts. The animal-shaped pendants, laden with crystals, fall on thin, long, and shiny chains. The belts are mainly made with open cut smooth leather, braided and perforated both for waist-high bodices and for hip-high belts.SHINY SOUL, STRIPES AND POISThis theme features the most outstanding traits to the brand’s soul. The main inspiration is taken from the Nineties, and stands out with sober shapes made precious with jewel details, for the extremely feminine, consciously elegant allure of the Liu Jo woman. The brand’s icon bags are the most distinctive elements: Kate, available in a new range of colours, and Matilda, with incredibly feminine details that shine with a golden gloss. There is also room for logos, now revisited in different models, applied to stone bases, to rhinestone shine and the unfading touch of stripes and polka dots.Be they structured of “balloon-effect” loose, the bags never fail to boast large flaps and visible fasteners. They are available in the classic colours, from malt to linen, from biscuit to dove, alternating tomato and saffron-yellow flash colours. The jacquard fabric is used in the traditional all over logo; again, the Matilda series features lizard-printed eco leather, raffia and braided straw, transparent nuvolato-finish patent leather; the Kate series features eco Nappa leather with a soft hand and the embossed logo; and, again, matt and glossy eco-calf with metal piping to define the borders, soft eco Nappa leather for the pleated shapes, coated pvc for the structured shapes with flat overtones. The foulards and scarves are printed in a mix of fancy stripes and polka dots, or bear the image of the icon bags, only viewed from a pop angle. The all over logo is well visible on square-shaped foulards, as well as new pearly effects, chains and retro watches. The bijoux feature flowery shapes and bloom with sensuality on bracelets and necklaces, while the coloured plexi versions feature shiny metal charms. The belts feature logoed bands, taking elements from the leathergoods concept, as well as stretch inserts, or again well-visible metal details; the logoed buckle is also available, though it has been revisited in new colours.
